It was during third grade after a teacher encouraged him in his writing and as he read through The Narnia Chronicles by C.S. Lewis that Travis decided he wanted to be a writer. The dream never left him, and allowed him to fulfill that dream of writing fulltime in 2007.

Travis Thrasher is the author of numerous works of fiction, including his most personal and perhaps his deepest work, Sky Blue, that was published in summer of 2007. This year he has to novels published, Out of the Devil’s Mouth, and a supernatural thriller, Isolation.

Kathi Macias is an award-winning author of more than twenty fiction and nonfiction books. She has also ghostwritten and collaborated on books for a number of well-known individuals. Well, one thing led to another and even though I got C's in my one writing class in college (and told God I could do anything for him but write) I got my first writing job for a TV series. And then another and then some directing jobs and finally some books. (I think I've written and/or directed a few dozen films and about 60 books). The projects have won about 40 awards, I get to travel all over the world, and I'm having the time of my life. I often think that none of this would have happened if I lived my life my way. I would have never chosen writing and directing for a living. Instead, I might be in somebody's mouth this very minute drilling away as a dentist. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being a dentist, it's just not what I was designed for. So, everywhere I go, I encourage people to say yes to God, no matter how foolish it may feel, because by doing that, they'll be in the center of His will and living a cooler life than they'd ever dreamed possible. It's not always easy and it can be a little scary…but it's anything but boring!

Today I live in California, not too far from Hollyweird (where I'm still trying to make a difference) with two cats, two kids, one dog and one wife.

My Review:

A best-selling Christian Triller and Horror book, House, by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti, has now become a movie, setting a standard for more Christian movies in this genre. Jack and Stephanie, a couple struggling with their marriage and guilt from their child dying, end up at a hotel with a killer that tells them "The wages of sin is death." Randy and Leslie also run over metal in the road that pops their tires and forces them into the House. The House is haunted in such a way that it shows them their sins and wants to make them pay. The killer, the Tin Man gives them the "rules" of the House:

1. I came into this house and killed God.

2. I will kill anyone that comes into my house the same way I killed God.

3. Give me one dead body by sunrise and I will let rule #2 slide.

Along with his accomplices, Betty, Stewart and Pete, he terrorizes Jack, Stephanie, Randy and Leslie with the presence of his evil. The occupants of the house leak black smoke and someone returns to life after one of them is killed, showing that they are not quite human. There is another person in the house, a young girl Susan, who while appearing scary at first turns out to be the good person who can show them the "Light" that will overcome the evil. While of course the killer and the occupants of the House are the evil ones, they are right about "the wages of sin is death." They are just killers and sinners themselves also. The people do have to die or have someone sacrifices in their place to pay for their sins. So brings up the idea of Jesus and our redemption through Him. The movie didn't get very far with that though, just showing that the light can overcome darkness. But in the book it is made so much clearer at the end. Also the end of the movie is different from the book, which makes for a strange ending that not everyone will agree with.

Overall I give the movie 4 out of 5 stars. Very good for a Christian horror movie.

If Tomorrow Never Comes by Marlo Schalesky

My Review: Marlo Schalesky has written another awesome book! The first book I read of hers was Beyond the Night, I was amazed then and I am astounded now! She is able to get you involved with the characters, to feel what they feel and empathize with their trials and sufferings. Kinna struggles to have a baby and struggles with her faith in God's ability to answer her prayers. She takes matters into her own hands to try to have a baby, goes against God's plan and her husband's. Kinna and Jimmy's marriage is deteriorating because she is so focused on having a baby that she forgets to love; he feels used as a baby machine. There are problems at Jimmy's job and he gets fired, while Kinna doesn't even know. And in the end of the book everything is worked together according to God's grand design for their lives. Even through disobedience God is able to work everything together for good! "Love believes all things. Genesis 1:31." That is an important quote in the book. Read this for yourself to find the awe of how God will work things out, even when we fall short.
